ARM’s Dual-core Chips For Phones Coming Soon

According to ARM, their A9 dual-core processor for mobile devices should appear in handsets sometime in 2010. The ARM A9 achieves a 10 to 20 percent increase in power efficiency over the single core A8 due to a 45 nanometer process. As to the performance increase, one can only surmise, but expect these phones to have significant processing ability. The only gotcha is that the phone OS must support the dual-core processor and at this point only Symbian announced future compatibility. Nokia E7? dual-core anyone?
