Google announced the availability of their Android 1.6 “Donut” SDK to developers. So what’s new in this version? Quite a lot, actually. Check it out:

• New version of Android Market
• Re-worked search function with the ability to search browser bookmarks, history, contacts, and the web from desktop
• Redesigned camera, video recorder, and gallery applications (with an emphasis on speed)
• Revised VPN menu page
• Improved CDMA support
• Increased support for screen resolutions
• More telephony and gesture APIs
• Text to speech engine

Look for this release as early as October.
