Leak: T-Mobile Project Dark Emerges, Details Still Vague (updated: less vague)

October 21st, 2009 5:30 PM | by Christen da Costa

tmobile-project-dark

We still don’t know much about T-Mobile’s Project Dark, but I guess that sort of explains the chosen name.  Now, thanks to a leaked add (pictured above) it looks like T-Mobile will have 2 unlimited plans to choose from, although it’s far from clear what those will be.

My best guess is that the ‘Even More’ plan applies to any phone of your choosing, while the ‘Even More Plus Plan’ provides you with same unlimited plan, but provides a significant discount on a select number of handsets.  Then again, it could be some sort of crazy international or data plan that isn’t currently offered by any carrier.  Word is that T-Mobile will lift their veil of secrecy sometime early next week or perhaps as early as the end of this week.

Update: It looks like the unlimited plans are as follows per BGR:

Individual Plan – No 2-year commitment

  • 500 Minutes  – $30
  • 500 + Unlimited Text – $40
  • 500 + Unlimited Text  + Unlimited Web – $60
  • 1000 Minutes – $40
  • 1000 + Unlimited Text – $50
  • 1000 +Unlimited Text  + Unlimited Web – $70
  • Unlmited Talk – $50
  • Unlimited Talk + Unlimited Text – $60
  • Unlimited Talk +Unlimited Text  + Unlimited Web – $80

Family Plan – Includes 2-lines + 2-year commitment

  • 750 Minutes – $60
  • 750 + Unlimited Text – $80
  • 750 + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web – $140
  • 1500 Minutes – $80
  • 1500 + Unlimited Text – $100
  • 1500 + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web – $160
  • Unlimited Minutes – $100
  • Unlimited Talk + Unlimited Text – $120
  • Unlimited Talk + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web – $18

AT&T Offically Announce The HTC Tilt 2 And Pure, Their First Windows Mobile 6.5 Handsets

October 5th, 2009 2:39 PM | by Christen da Costa

htc-tilt-2-and-pure

AT&T officially announced the availability of the HTC Tilt 2 and Pure.  We’ve already seen the Tilt 2 with official AT&T branding and it looks like they’ll be charging a pretty hefty sum much like the other carriers out there.  The PURE on the other hand, will be a bit cheaper but still cost a a pretty penny.  On a more positive note, both of these phones will be the first to sport Windows Mobile 6.5 on the AT&T network.

Feature wise the Tilt 2 has a 3.6-inch touchscreen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard.  They’ve also stuffed in dual speakers and dual microphones for some much needed and always welcomed noise cancellation.  Optics wise were looking at a 3.2 megapixel camera.  The Tilt 2 will be available in a few weeks for $299.99 after a 2-year contract signing and $50 mail-in-rebate.

The Pure sports a larger 5 megapixel camera but has a smaller 3.2-inch screen.  It will go on sale today for $199.99 after a 2-year and $50 mail-in-rebate.

Official: Verizon’s HTC Imagio Launch Date And Price

October 1st, 2009 4:45 PM | by Christen da Costa

HTC Phones

It was just a few days ago that we got word of Verizon’s Imagio handset, and now today the wireless company has made it official. As previously mentioned this will be one of the first handsets to sport the long awaited Windows Mobile 6.5.  Unlike many of HTC’s phones, the Imagio lacks a slide out QWERTY keyboard but does have a 3.6-inch touchscreen, Verizon’s Vcast Mobile TV, 5 megapixel camera and a bevy of other delightful features to keep you entertained.

The Imagio will go on sale October 6th for $199.99 after a 2-year contract and $100 mail-in-rebate.

LG Shoves Out The GD510, Claims To Be The Most Compact 3-inch Touch Screen Phone (video)

October 1st, 2009 11:32 AM | by Christen da Costa

LG officially announced their “Pop” phone yesterday, better known as the GD510.  It lays claim to being the most compact 3-inch touchscreen phone on the market today, although I’m not sure how they’re qualifying that statement.  What’s really drawing headlines, though, is the optional solar panel back cover that can provide you with those added minutes of talk time when in a pinch.  Other features include 8GB of storage, a single home button that doubles as a call start/end button (it blinks green for answer, red for end) and a 3 megapixel camera.

There’s no word on a price, but you can expect the LG GD510 in the EU this October with other markets following shortly behind.

Sprint Comes To Their Senses, Reduces The Price Of The Touch Pro2 To $199.99

September 30th, 2009 11:04 AM | by Christen da Costa

sprint-htc-touch-pro-2

Word on the street is that Sprint has come to their senses and will slash the price of the HTC Touch Pro2 from $349.99 to $199.99 after contract signing and mail-in-rebate on October 1st.  This move only seemed inevitable since Verizon already sells the exact same handset for the purported new lower price and with the iPhone and many other smartphones costing less it’s probably the only rational thing to do when it comes to remaining slightly competitive.  Course if I were you, I’d just buy me a Palm PRE from Letstalk.com, who is currently selling it for $79.99 after all the fine print stuff.

Note: if you bought the phone before this rumor emerged, hit up Sprint’s customer care and you should be able to get $100 credit, at least that’s what some folks are saying. Course, you might have to wait until this news becomes official.

Leak: Verizon’s HTC XV6975 Imagio

September 29th, 2009 3:31 PM | by Christen da Costa

htc-imagio-xv6975

It looks like Verizon is set to launch yet another HTC phone, yet this one, the HTC XV6975 Imagio, lacks a physical QWERTY keyboard.  While price and actual launch date are still unknown, specs wise were looking at a 3.6-inch touchscreen, Windows Mobile 6.5, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, 528mhz processor of some sort, 5mp autofocus camera, WiFi, Opera browser, HTC TouchFLO user interface and CDMA/GSM connectivity.   And get this, it’s the first Verizon smartphone to support Vcast MobileTV, that is if you’re into watching TV on your cell phone.
