T-Mobile USA announced the Android 1.6 “Donut” upgrade for users of the G1 and MyTouch 3G phones. They’ve just begun the delivery so expect the Android 1.6 official build to be rolled out gradually over the air. So I guess it’s time to check your phone every half hour all you T-Mobile fans…I know I would, but I’m neurotic like that.

The typical technical specs are all there including 3G, 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, etc; but what sets this clamshell phone apart is a highly fashionable “bling” design, as one can see from the facet-cut diamond face. Not only that but a Dolce & Gabbana special edition will be available, featuring 24carat gold plating.

Guys, judging from the pics, buy this for your lady friend and score BIG brownie points. Available near the end of this year in deep amethyst, aquamarine blue, and onyx black.

By Albert

pre-vzw-hack

A clever hacker who goes by the name “Cleanser” managed to coax the Sprint-only Palm Pre to work on the Verizon network. No details on how it was done but the Cleanser’s got voice and SMS working on the phone. No data, yet, but it’s a great start to what will hopefully become a full blown unlockable Pre. Check the vid after the ‘leap’.

iPhone OS 3.1 Update Available To Developers

By Albert

iphone-os-31

Apple released their iPhone OS 3.1 update to developers. So what’s new in this release? Not much for you consumers as this seems to be a developer oriented update. Check out what’s new:

  • Around 15 new OpenGL toys for handling 3D models
  • VideoEditorController API, which should let third party apps call up the video editing UI
  • Video picker API, goes hand-in-hand with the above
  • Plenty of obligatory “It seems faster!” reports
  • Some are claiming that MMS is now enabled by default, though still not functioning properly on AT&T. Seems strange to us that this would come via an OS update and not a carrier file update

By Albert

zeemote-js1-controller

Ever had aspirations of controlling your G1 phone with a Wii Nunchuck? Yeah, me neither but you sorta can with the Zeemote JS1 Wireless controller. It kinda looks like a nunchuck but it has a few more buttons and comes in a black/blue color scheme. So what can you do with it? Well, you can dial a number really, really slowly or perhaps play a game of pacman.
