Looks like you can now pre-order the Motorola Droid at your local Best Buy for a cool $199.99 after 2 year Verizon contract, no mail-in rebate needed. You’ll then have to wait until November 6th, a whole excruciating week, before you can get your hands on one.

Now that you have your eyes set on the DROID, you must of course prepare a suitable home in the form of a car dock and multimedia station. The word is that both of these accessories will go for $30 a piece. A bit overpriced but it’s all worth it for your precious DROID, no?

Good news all you HTC Hero owners with serious DROID/Google NAV envy: Android 2.0 will be coming to your phone…eventually. Straight from the horse’s mouth:
“Yes, we are working on an Eclair update for the HTC Hero. Because Eclair is a significantly enhanced release, it will require some time to update Sense for this new version of the Android OS. Please be patient while we work to provide you with a tightly integrated experience like the one you are already enjoying on your Hero.”
Google Maps Navigation Beta For Android 2.0 Announced
By Albert

Looks like the mumblings were true as Google officially announced their Maps Navigation App. The new app features a 3D map, supports layers (e.g. Wikipedia), offers turn-by-turn voice guidance, and automatic rerouting.
As of now it’s only available on the Motorola Droid in beta form with no word if it’ll be made available on other platforms. But if Google releases this app to all phones, traditional GPS makers will have something to worry about, especially if they have to compete with the likes of the Google behemoth.
Google To Release Turn-By-Turn GPS App?
By Albert

Rumors on the street is that Google will be releasing a free, ad-supported turn-by-turn GPS application. And yes, that was the collective trembling of Garmin, Tom Tom, and the rest of the traditional GPS makers as they shook in their boots. Assuming this is true, of course.
I always wondered why Google never released such an app that would be a natural extension of Google Maps. It just makes sense, right?

T-Mobile’s New Rate Plans Now Official And Available For Your Perusal
By Christen da Costa

My hats off to T-Mobile. They did a solid job keeping the deets on Project Dark in the dark, that is until a few days ago when all the info pretty much spilled out on to the webosphere. Today, the company got official with their new rate plans which seem to be a mix of Sprint’s unlimited offering and Verizon’s ‘no contract, bring your own equipment’ setups.
Both the Even More Plus and Even More plans are available in a family plan (for a premium) format and break down like this:
Unlocked GSM Compatible Palm Pre Now Available
By Christen da Costa

Soon T-Mobile and AT&T customers will be able to buy a Palm PRE…for $715. That’s right, the unlocked GSM version of the Palm PRE has gone on sale from none other than Expansys-usa. Pretty much everything remains the same as the original version, except this one sports a QWERTZ keyboard, as opposed to a QWERTY keyboard. They’re currently out of stock, but hopefully we can expect more any day now.
