October 12th, 2009 11:28 AM | by Christen da Costa

It’s been sometime since we heard anything about Sony Ericsson’s Satio, but today the phone went on sale to Vodafone customers.  Sign up for a 2-year plan and you can grab it for free.  Specs wise were looking at one of the first 12.1 megapixel cameras, media player, GPS, HSDPA connectivity, 3.5-inch touchscreen, FM radio, WiFi and the always frustrating Symbian OS.

To little to no fan fare, AT&T finally launched Sony Ericsson’s C905a yesterday.  It’s $179.99 after a 2-year and $50 mail-in-rebate.  The phone has been on the market in other regions for some time so the news of its arrival to the states although welcome, is rather moot.  But of note it is AT&T’s first 8 megapixel camera phone and include GPS, a Xenon flash, music player and a 2.4-inch 320×240 LCD.

Sony Ericsson ‘Idou’ 12MP Phone Officially Changed To ‘Satio’

At the time of launch we knew that Sony Ericsson’s 12 megapixel camera phone, the Idou, would receive a name change once it got closer to an official launch.  Well, that day - not the launch day, but the name day - has come.  The Sony Ericsson Idou will be officially released as the ‘Satio’.  Why they went with this moniker instead of Idou, which I personally prefer, is anyone’s guess.  Still no word on a street date for the handset, but in case you forgot it is the first phone to sport a 12 megapixel camera and includes a Xenon flash, 3.5-inch touchscreen (640×320), Symbian OS, WiFi, GPS, media player and 3 finishes: black, silver, and bordeaux.

Sharp AQUOS SHOT 933SH Camera Phone Is 10 Megapixels Of Brawn, But Is There A Brain?

With no end in sight, the megapixel battle continues to rage on, albeit in the cell phone category. Announced today, Sharp is releasing the AQUOS SHOT 933SH, a 10 megapixel camera phone destined for Asia only and set to debut on Japan’s Softbank Mobile at the end of this month. All the action can be peeped courtesy of a flip/swivel 3.3-inch WVGA touchscreen, which is pretty massive since that outdoes many of today’s point and shoot cameras.  Don’t be fooled though by what appears to be a large lens.  Look closely and you’ll notice that the optics are still cell phone sized, which probably means crumby night shots with a ton of noise.
