Dell & AT&T To Launch Android Based Smartphone

Word on the street is that Dell and AT&T will be launching a smartphone based on Google’s Android OS sometime next year. Back in August you might have heard about Dell’s proof of concept smartphone with full touchscreen sans keypad. Well, this pretty much matches the description of the phone announced today.

We’ve kind of avoided the Dell Smartphone rumor thing for sometime, but now high rez pics of the handset have surfaced, so ignore we can no more. The Dell Mini 3i packs a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, 3 megapixel camera, microSD card slot and is chalk full of the Android OS. It looks like it’s heading off to China first and foremost, and if it proves to be anything like Dell’s attempt at an iPod, I wouldn’t expect to see it hit US shores…ever.

Well, well, it looks like the Dell smartphone rumors were true. What we have here is a leaked snapshot of a Dell branded Android smartphone. Reports indicate Dell is set to release multiple handsets in 2G and 3G flavors in the near future. Let’s just hope the UI doesn’t come in that ‘trix are for kids’ theme.
