iPhone 3G S Processor Specs Revealed

Apple’s been pretty tight lipped with the specs of their new iPhone 3G S but a leak from T-Mobile Netherlands indicates a juiced up 600MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM (up from the 412MHz/128MB RAM iPhone 3G). Combined with 3G S’s new PowerVR SGX graphics chip with Open GL ES 2.0, one can expect some pretty spectacular graphics crammed into a mobile phone. In other words, if you love gaming on your iPhone, you’ll definitely want to pick this up.

AT&T iPhone 3G S Pre-order Available Today

Pre-orders for the iPhone 3G S will be available today (approx 5pm ET)  from AT&T’s retail stores or a bit later on their online store. The benefit of this is that AT&T will open their retail stores at 7am on June 19th exclusively for those who have pre-ordered. So for those gadget freaks, now is the time to grab the ‘ol sleeping bag and camp until the 19th.

On a side note, the $99 iPhone 3G will be available today.

Apple Announces iPhone 3G S

After many months of waiting, speculating, obsessing, etc, Apple released the goods on the new iPhone 3G S. It’s looks more or less the same as the older 3G model but under the hood, well, that’s a different story. Check it out:

  • 7.2Mbps HSDPA data speeds
  • $199 for 16GB model, $299 for 32GB model (with contract)
  • Faster processor with updated 3D graphics (processor speed unknown beyond Apple’s claim of being 2x faster)
  • High quality video capture - shoot video, edit, then share with others
  • 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and ‘tap to focus’ feature
  • Voice Control which lets you dial a contact or play a song by simply speaking
  • Built-in digital Compass which re-orients the map to match the direction you’re facing
  • Cut, copy, and paste text or pictures in or between applications
  • Landscape Keyboard - rotate the iPhone to type in landscape mode
  • Improved messaging, search, and accessibility
  • Internet tethering (AT&T plans to support this)
  • Nike+ support

Available in the States on June 18th. Users in 80 other countries will have to wait until August.
