Soon T-Mobile and AT&T customers will be able to buy a Palm PRE…for $715. That’s right, the unlocked GSM version of the Palm PRE has gone on sale from none other than Expansys-usa. Pretty much everything remains the same as the original version, except this one sports a QWERTZ keyboard, as opposed to a QWERTY keyboard. They’re currently out of stock, but hopefully we can expect more any day now.

Palm launched a new Palm Pre Apps Catalog website that allows users to browse through the latest and greatest webOS applications, much like RIM’s online BlackBerry App World. Basically, you can browse through the apps, read short descriptions, and look through screenshots. Check it out by clicking below.

Word on the street is that the Palm Pixi, Palm’s second webOS device, will be launching on October 20th at the Sprint retail and Best Buy stores. It’ll be interesting to see where the Pixi fits in (or if it even will) among the other heavyweight devices.

Qualcomm revealed the specs of Palm’s upcoming Pixi. Looks like this ‘mini Pre’ is quite the performer, packing in two ARM cores on a single chip, a dedicated 600MHz applications processor, a 400MHz modem processor, a 200MHz OpenGL 2.0 capable GPU, and a 320MHz application DSP for multimedia (supporting full 30 fps WVGA video encoding/decoding). Looks like they have all bases covered.

- Gesture area
- Exposed QWERTY keyboard
- Integrated GPS
- Bluetooth 2.1 with stereo support
- No Wi-Fi
- Accelerometer & proximity sensor
- EVDO Rev. A data speeds
- 8GB internal storage
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Rubberized back cover
- “Artist Series” covers for personalization
The Palm Pixi should be available by the holidays through Sprint.

I’m not sure how thrilled most people will be to learn that Amazon is now hocking Sprint’s version of the iPhone - the Palm PRE - but in case you’ve been holding out for perhaps a tax free purchase or just have a penchant for all things Amazon then you’re time is now. With a 2-year contract you can grab the webOS infused phone for $199.99 or plunk down $499.99 and walk away contract free.
