By Christen da Costa

Soon T-Mobile and AT&T customers will be able to buy a Palm PRE…for $715.  That’s right, the unlocked GSM version of the Palm PRE has gone on sale from none other than Expansys-usa.  Pretty much everything remains the same as the original version, except this one sports a QWERTZ keyboard, as opposed to a QWERTY keyboard.  They’re currently out of stock, but hopefully we can expect more any day now.

Palm PRE Now Available On Amazon

By Christen da Costa

pre-on-amazon

I’m not sure how thrilled most people will be to learn that Amazon is now hocking Sprint’s version of the iPhone - the Palm PRE - but in case you’ve been holding out for perhaps a tax free purchase or just have a penchant for all things Amazon then you’re time is now.  With a 2-year contract you can grab the webOS infused phone for $199.99 or plunk down $499.99 and walk away contract free.

The Palm PRE is finally making its way across the pond.  Announced today, Palm signed a deal with Telefonica, Spain’s largest cell phone carrier.  It will be available in Spain, the UK, Ireland and Germany.  No word on a price but the launch date is expected to be in time for the holiday shopping season.

Rumor: Sprint To Offer $100 Instant Rebate On Palm PRE

By Christen da Costa

palm-pre-200-instant

Rumor has it that Sprint might now offer the Palm PRE with a $100 instant rebate as opposed to a 1200 mail-in-rebate.  If true, this is clearly a result of pressure from retailers such as Best Buy who have had plans to offer the rebate at point of purchase. I’m actually surprised that retailers offering Sprint service can undercut the provider, but since the rebate is probably from Palm it might circumvent any agreement with the carrier.

Palm Pre Release Date and Price Get Official

By Christen da Costa

palm-pre-release-date-and-price

Finally, we’ve now got the official word from Sprint themselves that the Palm PRE will launch on June 6th for $199.99. You’ll have to sign a 2-year contract and sign up for their Everything Data plan in order to qualify. Sprint didn’t waste anytime throwing a punch at Apple or another carrier and states that their data plan offers “savings of up to $1,430 over two years vs. comparable AT&T and Verizon plans for smartphones and PDAs”. If you want the wireless charging option you’ll have to plunk down $69.99, which includes the Touchstone and the compatible back.

Leak: Palm PRE Shows Up Once Again In SF

By Christen da Costa

palm-pre-in-wild

Hey everybody, I just thought I should let you know that it’s no secret that actual, breathing, everyday people have their hands on the Palm PRE.  It’s all part of Palm’s beta tester program to find out what sucks or doesn’t suck about the iPhone killer.  Anyway, yet another camera phone pic was snapped of the handset being used in the wild on what I believe to be San Francisco public transportation.  Has San Fran become the epicenter of all things PRE?  Makes sense since I think Palm is based there.

Rumor: Palm PRE FAQ Emerges

By Christen da Costa

palm-pre-faq

Insidesprintnow (sounds like a bad porn website) claims to have the scoop on the Palm PRE’s FAQ, which may or may not be included with the phone in a print version.  To firm things up they’ve included a screen shot of how to tune up your PRE if it seems a tad sluggish.  So to reiterate, there’s no way to tell if the info is fabricated, but if so they’ve sure got some patience.

Leak: Sprint Documents Show Possible Palm PRE Launch Date

By Christen da Costa

palm-pre-launch-date-leaked

Palm PRE this, Palm PRE that.  Will it ever end?  But of course, but only after the phone has launched.  Which now looks to be sometime shortly after May 16th, at least according to some clandestine documentation leaked from the bowels of Sprint.  The cellular provider has committed to a 2nd quarter launch, so at the very least you’ll have to wait 45 days after this requested delivery date.  But since there is a ‘vacation blackout’ on Sprint retail employees for the month of May, it’s probably fair to say it will hit on 5/17/09.
