According to rumors hitting the net, Windows Mobile 7 is scheduled to launch Q4 of 2010. Before that, Microsoft is expected to launch Windows Mobile 6.5 on October 1, 2009 and an updated 6.5 version with touch interface in February 2010.

So why is Microsoft supporting dual platforms? It seems their strategy is to pit Windows Mobile 6.5 against the Android platform and Windows Mobile 7 against the iPhone…a good idea if they were released, like, a year ago?

Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha confirmed a Q4 release of their upcoming Android devices. To make this year’s holiday season, they’ll need to ship the devices sometime in November. They were wise to focus on the Android platform but could it be too little, too late? With a loss of $509 for the quarter, it’s pretty much a do or die situation for the once high-flying Motorola. Let’s hope they can get their act together and produce some innovative products.
