While I can’t predict the weather, one thing is for sure: a storm is on the way. To be more specific the Storm 2 from RIM. Yup, they’re releasing the second iteration of the device on October 28th, at least according to some leaked documentation. This is supposed to be the launch day of Motorola’s Droid, but Verizon isn’t exactly known for warm and fuzziness. I’m far from excited, especially after playing with the original Storm and predicting its demise. Expect to drop $179.99 after a 2-year contract signing and $100 mail-in-rebate.

The Blackberry Storm hasn’t exactly been the smash success that Verizon or RIM had hoped for. As a result, they’ve spent no time denying the existence of the next iteration of the device and even sent an early build to the folks at Crackberry.com for a hands on.
Thanks to a set of leaked documents we now know - that is assuming these are legit and accurate - that the Storm 2 (aka 9550) will arrive in Verizon retail stores on 10/14, while business customers will gain access to the device on 9/29. Pricing is still an unknown, but I’d expect it to be about $200 upon launch.

RIM’s CEO confirmed the impending arrival of the Blackberry Storm 2, but we never imagined, even in our wildest dreams that pics of the handset would leak to the blogosphere this soon. No official specs have been touted, but the bottom buttons now appear to be integrated into the touchscreen. With that all said, does this mean that were close to a Storm 2 launch? Perhaps Q4?
