By Christen da Costa

LG officially announced their “Pop” phone yesterday, better known as the GD510.  It lays claim to being the most compact 3-inch touchscreen phone on the market today, although I’m not sure how they’re qualifying that statement.  What’s really drawing headlines, though, is the optional solar panel back cover that can provide you with those added minutes of talk time when in a pinch.  Other features include 8GB of storage, a single home button that doubles as a call start/end button (it blinks green for answer, red for end) and a 3 megapixel camera.

There’s no word on a price, but you can expect the LG GD510 in the EU this October with other markets following shortly behind.

LG BL40 Chocolate Phone Gets A Commerical (video)

By Christen da Costa

lg-bl40-commercial

At this point I think it pretty fair to say that LG’s newest Chocolate phone, the BL40, is pretty massive in size.  Take a look at this newly minted commercial and you’ll see what I’m talking about.  Check out the woman’s hands in proportion to the phone.  I mean, the thing truly is the size of a Hershey bar.  By my estimates it’s gotta be almost 3/4 of an inch longer than the iPhone in order to squeeze in a screen that is .5-inch larger than Apple’s.

Verizon Wireless enV3 (vx9200) Sold Early, Gets Video’d (video)

By Christen da Costa

Turns out that I was wrong and the enV3 and enV Touch are in fact two different phones.  To clear up any confusion a Howard Forum member managed to score the enV3 before official release and put together one of those wonderfully intriguing over head videos.  I didn’t use the enV2, but the enV3 doesn’t appear to have that many improvements with the exception of a sleeker form factor.  Word on the street is that it will officially launch May 29th and cost $179.99 after a 2-year contract singing and $50 mail-in-rebate.

HD Omnia Trick Video Revealed (video)

By Christen da Costa

You might have missed it, but to promote Samsung’s latest Omnia phone - the Omnia HD - they created a ‘trick video’ that asked viewers to guess how they did it (make the phone disappear and still recording video).  Well, they’ve finally come clean and revealed their magical ways.  I’ve embedded both videos below for your convenience.

LG GD900 Official Demo Video Emerges

By Christen da Costa

The LG GD900 has been the talk of the town thanks to its unusual transparent keypad, a first in a cell phone.  If you’re interested in the phone, then might I pique your interest further with the official demo video that walks you through the phone’s feature set and shows all that it has to offer.  Too lazy to watch the demo?  Specs include GSM/HSDPA connectivity, 3-inch touch, 8 megapixel camera with camcorder abilities and a transparent touchpad that supports hand writing recognition and gesture controls with the swipe of a finger.  The LG GD900 will arrive this quarter and although I hate to say it, the phone will be a flash in the pan.
