August 20th, 2009 11:46 AM | by Christen da Costa

Would you spend $825 on a cell phone?  I sure as hell wouldn’t, but if you want the latest in wrist communication that’s exactly how many ducets you’ll need to drop to get your hands on the LG GD910 Watch Phone.  Orange will exclusively offer it at their Bond Street Station (in the UK) shop on Thursday, August the 27th.  Don’t live near Bond Street?  No problem, just ring up your chauffeur or pilot and I’m sure you can arrange a day trip to purchase this ridiculousy cool, but expensive mobile phone.

With the impending launch of LG’s Watch Phone in the UK this August it’s no surprise other handset manufacturers are drawing their guns.  Yesterday, Samsung pulled the wraps of their very own watch phone, the S9110, which by the way lays claim to the world’s slimmest at 11.98mm (slightly thinner than the iPhone).

Sveltness aside, we’re also looking at a 1.76-inch scratch resistant touchscreen, email, Bluetooth, speaker phone, voice recognition and a stainless steel body complimented by a leather band.  LG can breath easy, though, since Samsung’s ode to the days of Dick Tracy isn’t heading to the UK, at least not anytime soon, but will show up around the same time in France for €450 ($640 US).

It finally looks like LG’s GD910 watch phone will be making its way to US shores sometime in the near future, at least according to this recently filed FCC document.  There’s no official word from the company themselves and if you really want one sooner than later you’ll have to head overseas to the UK and pick one up at a local Orange store (do they have stores?).  We’re still expecting it to cost a pretty penny contract or no contract.

LG still has yet to release their hyped watch phone, but until then you’ll have to settle for lesser watch phones.  Take for instance the iWatch M860 from Swiss watch maker Handyuhr.  Not only does is sport a 1.4-inch touchscreen (128×160), but dual SIM card slots for the world traveler.  It supports  tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900), Bluetooth, 1.3MP camera and MP3 player.  All this is yours for just $710!

GoldVish’s Revolution Watch Phone Is So Opulent Even Your Bank Account Will Wheeze

April 9th, 2009 5:51 PM | by Christen da Costa

Call me a hater, but Goldvish’s latest handset, the Revolution, is dag nasty looking.  Aside from being adorned in diamonds and white gold, the phone features a mechanical watch from Swiss watchmaker Frederic Jouvenot (I don’t know who that is either).  And based on the pics, and the pics alone, the watch portion appears to be detachable, but no word on that.

Interested?  Than prepare to drop some serious loot.  €369,000 ($488,150 US) will get you this limited production- 9 pieces total - phone.  And I thought that LG’s watch phone was expensive!
